Dev Blog: Elemental Combat and Design
Hey guys! Me and Tymko still have a lead over code team, so for the rest of the week, you’ll have to deal with design team explaining all the things we think are cool about the game. Today’s Dev Blog (as you might have guessed from the infographic) is about elemental combat in Project Purple. Project Purple has 6 elements, Fire-Air-Plant-Electric-Water-Earth, which form a funny rock-paper-scissors system that’s easier to explain visually (note the chart). The idea was that each type should be strong against two types, weak against two types, and have a fair match-up against the last two (one of which is its own).
Our art team is boss - here is a lovely diagram to explain the types of monsters you’ll encounter in Project Purple
TLDR: It all works kind of like Magic the Gathering, it’s not typical “FIRE BEATS PLANT BECAUSE IT’S FIRE”, it’s more like, Fire has certain characteristics; it attacks hard and fast and quickly. >:U Just like the “Red” magic in Magic the Gathering
